Picked up a set of S3 brakes for the GLI today. They’re 340mm (13.4"). At $700 i got 80% of a BBK’s potential power for half the cost! Best part is the set has like 5k miles on it! Will post pics when installed!

switch out those hoses for stainless steel braided while you are in there

I love the thought of using parts from a more upscale car on something else, specifically brakes. R32/Z32 4 pots on a 240sx springs to mind.

yep VW’s are the same! GTI brakes to upgrade regular jettas and golfs, and then basically any Golf R/Audi S/RS kit, or even porsche kits can be used for bigger stopping power! The S3 kit is one of the smaller ones when it comes to rotor size, but offers a large caliper, so is an awesome OEM+ upgrade
